The China Russia East Gas Pipeline Project is an important component of China's four major oil and gas strategic channels, and its full line connection will greatly enhance China's energy supply security and stability. The pipeline project starts from Heihe in Heilongjiang Province in the north and ends in Shanghai in the south, with a total length of over 8000 kilometers. The pipeline within China has a total length of 5111 kilometers and runs through 9 provinces (cities, districts). The completion of this project not only strengthens energy cooperation between China and Russia, but also provides stable gas supply of 38 billion cubic meters for the three northeastern provinces, Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, and Yangtze River Delta region of China, which is sufficient to meet the annual gas demand of 130 million urban households.
The construction of the China Russia East Gas Pipeline Project has adopted multiple new technologies, including shield tunneling and other methods, aiming to create a high-tech green energy corridor. The entire project is constructed in sections of northern, middle, and southern sections. The southern section of the project starts from Yongqing, Hebei and ends in Shanghai, with a total length of 1509 kilometers. Among them, the newly built Anping Taixing section and Nantong Luzhi section pipelines have a total length of 1243 kilometers, and the Anping Taixing section pipeline has been put into operation since 2022. The completed project this time is the Nantong Luzhi section of the China Russia East Line, which is also the last section of the China Russia East Line project.
During the construction process, relevant departments optimized the excavation plan and applied 18 meter extension pipes, which enabled the overall construction period of the China Russia East Line (southern section) to be completed 7 months ahead of schedule, laying a solid foundation for the smooth completion and production of the entire line. As of now, the eastern route between China and Russia has safely and steadily transported over 78 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
The full completion of the China Russia East Gas Pipeline project is not only of great significance to China's energy security, but also has a profound impact on promoting regional economic development, improving energy structure, and protecting the environment. With the deployment of this energy artery, it is expected to further enhance China's voice and influence in the international energy market.
